I will fear no evil
for my God is with me,
and if my God is with me,
whom then shall I fear?
For so long, I've assumed that the act of questioning God is something forbidden, something blasphemous. Despite what you go through, what you experience, you must NEVER question our Heavenly Father for He knows what is best for us. Indeed, this is True... to an extent.
Yes, place all our trust on Him who was and is and is to come.
Yes, do not let your faith be hindered and stifled by circumstances.
Yes, Emmanuel (God is with us).
However, I have come across a very unusual yet enlightening concept during one of my CAT readings (yes, God has a sense of humor).
Questioning the Lord produces faith because despite our questions, hesitations, and second thoughts, we continue to trust in Him. It states,
Only in the sense that when you question God, you deepen faith. People who do not question God do not understand the Bible very well. Job questioned God. Isaiah, Jeremiah questioned God. Even Jesus... So in the depth of suffering, questioning God is to be expected. But it is for the purpose of keeping the faith, not as it were, rejecting faith.
It is almost foolish to condemn and discourage those who ask why?
For even Jesus asked, why have You forsaken me? (Mark 15:34)
Are we better than Christ? Are we more faithful than He?
He questioned, yet obeyed. He cried out, yet complied. He was anxious and scared, yet asked for His will to be done.
In doing so, He committed the greatest act of Love the world has ever known.
THAT is faith. THAT is power. THAT is what saves.
Passively accepting whatever comes our way almost reveals a lack of faith. We are bound to question for we are sinful beings; however, we must persevere, obey, and trust in our King. We must desire what He desires -- His glory.
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Don't let go.
